It’s a beautiful thing to work with art, to spend time with brilliant artists and innovative designers. Part of appreciating that beauty is ensuring it lives on in, and is accessible to, younger generations. Below are two organizations we believe in and support- Please join us in promoting arts education and equity here in central Texas.
Creative Action
We use the arts as a medium to inspire creativity, unlock potential, and transform the lives of students of all ages.
One student, one project, one community at a time, Creative Action will be a force for equity, belonging, and joy in our society. Equipped with creativity, confidence, courage, and critical thinking skills, there’s no limit to what our students can achieve.
Art Spark texas
Our goal is to create an accessible and inclusive community where everyone can participate. We offer programs that enable artistic, educational and career success, provide support and training to the public, enhance personal growth, and promote access to the creative work of people with diverse abilities. Our guiding principles are all people should have full access to cultural facilities and events; everyone deserves high quality arts learning experiences; and all people who aspire to careers in the arts should have an opportunity to develop their skills.
*The above project was presented by Creative Action, an Austin-based arts education non-profit organization, in partnership with Facebook Open Arts. The mural was created by lead artist Mylo Mendez in conversation with members of Color Squad, a collective of teenage artists who design and implement public art around issues of sustainability, community, and equity.
Mylo Mendez makes illustrations influenced by Mexican folk art, Mayan and Aztec design, and the color palettes of the Southwestern United States as a means of exploring their identity. By connecting to the past through artmaking and design, Mendez investigates the contemporary Mexican American experience and its relationship to heritage, family, and politics.
